There are fifteen musical groups at Grace UMC!  Music is an integral part of congregational life at Grace, and people from four-year-old children on up to our senior adults participate in offering music for the glory of God.  Please contact the church or the group’s director to find out more about getting involved in music ministry here.

Singing Choirs

Chancel Choir. The Chancel Choir is the main adult vocal ensemble of Grace Church and sings for the 11:00 service on the 1st, 4th and 5th Sundays, and the 8:30 service on the 2nd Sundays. This choir also participates in special services, such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday and Holy Week, and also sings at least one larger work each year. Music reading experience is not required to join the choir. Rehearsal is held on Wednesdays, 7:30-9:15 p.m. Directed by Milton Rodgers.

Grace Treble Ensemble. The Treble Ensemble is for adult female singers who read music and who want a smaller group experience. The Treble Ensemble sings at both the 8:30 and 11:00 services on the 3rd Sundays and often participates in holiday services. Rehearsal is held on Sundays, 6:30-7:45 p.m. Directed by Lynn Jost.

Wesley Singers
. The Wesley Singers is Grace UMC’s youth vocal choir for students in Grades 6-12. The choir typically sings for the 11:00 service on 2nd Sundays, and for the 8:30 service on the 4th Sundays. No music reading experience is required to join this fun group with around 50 singers each year. This choir often sings in the community and goes on a tour each summer. Rehearsal is held on Sundays, 4:45-6:00 p.m. Directed by Lynn Jost.

Asbury Choir. Asbury Choir is for students in Grades 3-5. The choir sings at varying worship services, with the schedule determined each fall. They participate in the Choristers' Guild festival every other year and join with the Asbury Singers to present a spring musical during worship services. Rehearsals are on Mondays, 5:15-6:00 pm. Directed by Milton Rodgers & Lynn Jost.

Asbury Singers. The Asbury Singers is a choir for students in Grades 1-2. The choir sings at varying worship services, with the schedule determined each fall. Joyful Singers. The Joyful Singers is a singing choir for children ages 4-Kindergarten. This choir sings at the 11:00 service on the third Sunday of the month during the school year. Praise Bands

SonRise. Come worship with us in a relaxed atmosphere at Grace's Contemporary Worship Service every Sunday evening at 5:00.  Enjoy a traditional liturgical service with a 21st century sound provided by SonRise, Grace's resident praise band.  SonRise performs a variety of gospel, contemporary Christian and original songs.  Dress down, but be ready to power up with some excellent music, uplifting sermons and friendly company.  Children of all ages are welcome.  A nursery is provided, as well as SEEK, an alternative worship experience for kids kindergarten- 4th grade.  Come, join us to rock and worship every Sunday evening!

Got Hymn. This is Grace's contemporary youth Christian music ensemble for both singers and instrumentalists. Ringing Choirs

Parrish Bells. The Parrish Bells are the advanced handbell choir at Grace. Music reading is a prerequisite. This seven-octave bell choir typically rings at the 8:30 and 11:00 services on the 3rd Sundays and also participates in some special services. They participate in handbell festivals, have toured in Germany twice, and were one of the founding choirs of Northern Virginia Handbell Festival. Rehearsals are held Sundays, 7:45-9:15 p.m. Directed by Milton Rodgers.

Grace GosBells. The GosBells are the intermediate/beginner handbell choir of Grace Church. Music reading is helpful but not a prerequisite. This choir usually rings at the 8:30 and 11:00 services on 4th Sundays. They often participate in the Area III Adult Handbell Festival in Ocean City, MD. They welcome participants of all ages, including youth in grades 6-12. Rehearsals are Mondays, 7:30-9:00 p.m. Directed by Diana Rybinsky. Chimers. The Chimers are a mission-oriented chime choir that visits various older adult facilites on Mondays during the school year to lead a time of singing with the residents. No music reading experience is required. The group meets on Mondays, 10:30--11:00 a.m. Led by Milton Rodgers.

Asbury Ringers. This choir is open to students in Grades 3-5 and rings about once every other month in worship. Students learn the basics of ringing and are led by experienced youth and young adult ringers. Rehearsals are connected to Asbury Choir and are held Mondays 6:00-6:30pm. Instrumental Ensembles

Grace Brass Ensemble.  This Brass Ensemble is open to any brass player 7th grade through adult.  They play approximately once a quarter for the morning worship services and for other festive worship services (Easter, Christmas).  Rehearsals are held Thursdays, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Directed by Allan Anderson.  For more information, please contact Milton Rodgers or click HERE to go to the Grace Brass Ensemble web site at http://umcgracebrass.org.
