Grace’s Loving Hearts Senior Adult ministry seeks to address the spiritual, educational and social needs of the “seasoned” adults in our church and community. These ministries reach out to long-timers in the Grace community and newcomers to the Manassas area to welcome all senior adults into a community of faith and fellowship. The group celebrates those who have been members at Grace for many years, with a special recognition of 50 Year members each summer, but we also welcome those who find themselves looking for a church home in a new place, or perhaps even for the first time. All are welcome and invited to join in!
Under the leadership of Director Nancy Miller and the Senior Adult Council, the Loving Hearts ministry hosts periodic study group opportunities specially geared toward older adults and monthly daytime fellowship opportunities.
Each week, Pastor Rudy Tucker leads a Bible study at the Caton Merchant assisted living home here in Manassas, and senior adults participate and lead many of the Sunday school offerings on Sunday mornings. Seasonally, studies take place at Grace and at The Oaks of Wellington apartment community, our next door neighbors on Hendley Road. Past topics have included Being A Methodist and Christianity and World Religions, as well as seasonal Advent and Lenten studies. Check the calendar for more information about current offerings!
The Loving Hearts’ fellowship gatherings are a great time for everyone! With more than 50 people in regular attendance, these events are favorites in the Grace community and beyond. Whether we’re welcoming the Happy Hoofers senior women’s dance group or gathering for holiday meals together, all are welcome to join in the fun! Occasionally, the Loving Hearts groups also gather for day trips around Virginia and the Capital region, and for intergenerational mission and events.
